EPL: Ronney’s Brace in Man Utd 2-1 Win Over Southampton; Arsenal Held 2-2 by Liverpool at Emirates

EFT Report, Manchester: Wanye Rooney scored a brace as the Red Devils came from a goal behind to win 2-1 against Southampton in their EPL encounter played at Old Trafford on Jan 31, 2013 and take a seven massive points lead over arch rivals Manchester City. Jay Rodriguez scored as early as the 3rd minute for the Saints after a mistake from Michael Carrick near the box. The Reds responded immediately through Rooney in the 8th minute as he latched on to a Kagawa's lobbed pass to equalize. Actor Jim Nabors Weds Gay Partner Cadwallader

EFT Report, Seattle: American actor Jim Nabors, the star of 1960s television comedy "Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C.," married his longtime male partner at a Seattle hotel this month.

Nabors, 82, also a singer, wed 64-year-old Stan Cadwallader, his partner of some 38 years, in a ceremony before a judge on January 15 at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel, where the couple traveled after same sex marriage became legal in Washington State last month.

Nabors said the ceremony in his hotel room was "very touching" but laughed off any suggestion of feeling different afterward.

Nabors said he met Cadwallader, a former firefighter in Honolulu, in 1975, and Cadwallader eventually went to work for him.

Nabors said he was open with his colleagues and friends about his sexuality, but that his marriage was a private affair not intended as a public statement in the national debate over gay marriage.

Nine of the 50 US States plus the District of Columbia have legalized gay marriage. Another 31 states have passed constitutional amendments restricting marriage to heterosexual couples.

Madras HC Re-Imposes Ban on 'Vishwaroopam'

EFT Report, Chennai: The problems for the veteran actor Kamal Haasan's mega-budget "Vishwaroopam" increased after the Madras High Court on Wednesday (Jan. 30, 2013) set aside the single judge's interim order that allowed screening of the film in the state.

Hearing the appeal made by the Tamil Nadu government against the single judge's order, a two-member high court bench set aside the former's order.

The high court bench chaired by Justice Dharma Rao has nullified the revocation of the ban on the film by Justice K. Venkataraman Tuesday.

Ban on 'Vishwaroopam'

"The film stays banned as of now and it can't be screened across Tamil Nadu," Justice Dharma Rao said.

The court has asked the state government to submit its responses by Monday.

The Madras High Court Tuesday ruled in favour of "Vishwaroopam" and revoked the ban by the state government. It, however, said the administrative step was to be taken by the government.

"Vishwaroopam" was due to release Jan. 25, but was banned following objections from certain Muslim groups, who claimed that the film portrayed their community in a bad light. Apart from Tamil Nadu, the film was banned in Andhra Pradesh and Kerala.

EFT Report, Chennai: Decks were cleared for the release of actor-director Kamal Haasan's controversial Tamil movie 'Vishwaroopam' with the Madras High Court lifting the ban imposed by the Tamil Nadu government after protests by Muslim outfits.

Mohit Suri Weds Udita Goswami at Mumbai Temple

EFT Report, Mumbai: Filmmaker Mohit Suri tied the knot with his actress girlfriend Udita Goswami on Jan. 29, 2013 in a traditional Punjabi wedding at the Hare Rama Hare Krishna temple in Mumbai.

Suri's sister Smiley says it won't be a Bollywood celebrity-laden affair.

"We had asked our close friends to design Mohit Suri's outfit for his wedding and reception. It is a very private celebration, so we thought let's keep it a very simple Punjabi wedding. It's not going to be filmy at all," Smiley said.

The pre-wedding mehndi ceremony was held at Smiley's residence Monday, and she admits the preparations are stressful.

"We are highly stressed right now. There are back to back occasions and last night we had a blast during the mehendi ceremony. There was mehendi as well as haldi last night. So we had a lot of fun last evening," she said.

The wedding reception will be held on Jan. 31 at the Mahalakshmi Race Course in Mumbai.
