Faisal Khan first child artist to win 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Reloaded'

EFT Report, Mumbai: There was music, dance with a dose of glamour at the "Shaandaar" finale of "Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Reloaded" as a new chapter in the history of the popular reality TV show was unfolded with Faisal Khan emerging as the first child artist to win the trophy.

Faisal, who gained recognition after playing the lead role of ruler Maharana Pratap in a period drama, pipped celebrities -- Mohit Malik, Sanaya Irani and Shamita Shetty -- to win the show on Saturday night. Sanaya was the first finalist.

Along with the trophy, Faisal walked away with Rs.3 million and a car. The teenager, who had earlier won another dancing reality show, became emotional after his name was announced and his family gathered on the stage to hug him and congratulate him for the win.

The journey of the show saw many twists and turns with new faces joining the ride in between and some leaving it midway.

The show started with a new judges panel with Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor making his TV debut, international dancer-actress and former contestant Lauren Gottlieb and choreographer-singer Ganesh Hegde.

Filmmaker Karan Johar was the only judge to join the new panel from the previous seasons, though he had to leave it halfway. He was replaced by actress-producer Malaika Arora Khan.

The finale episode was a fun ride with energetic performances, music hoopla and peppiness of actress Alia Bhatt, who came to promote her forthcoming film "Shaandaar" opposite Shahid.

There was fire, flames, sparks and smoke -- Faisal's finale hip hop act on "Hairat hai raat" impressed all with judges and audience giving him a standing ovation. Lauding his talent, Shahid thanked the people behind the show for showing him "such outstanding talent".

Alia also confessed that Faisal was her favourite and she had even voted for him.

The cast of TV show "Comedy Nights Bachao" including Krushna Abhishek, Bharti Singh, Karan Wahi and Anita Hassanandani brought in a bundle of laughs and joy to the finale with their rib tickling gigs.

Karan Johar was not forgotten, as his cutout was a subject to some of the digs by the host Manish Paul. The eighth season of the reality show, Indian version of international show "Dancing With The Stars", went on air on Colors channel in July.

Putting the show on rewind mode with a bang from the past, eliminated contestants like Raftaar and Neha Marda danced with Hegde on songs like "Chura ke dil mera", "Piya tu ab toh aaja" and "Zinda".

The episode became grand with the touch of bling as Bollywood new on screen couple -- Shahid and Alia -- pepped up the mood with their lively performance on "Shaandaar" title track.

Another highlight of the episode was when Manish showcased his dancing skill by shaking leg with Malaika and Lauren.

Shamita's family including elder sister Shilpa Shetty Kundra, also appeared in the episode to cheer for her.

It was "double bonanza" as superstar Salman Khan made brief appearances on the episode through video clips. Salman, who will be seen as a host of "Bigg Boss Nau", had special messages for the finalists, and wished them luck. He also showed glimpse of what's in store of "Bigg Boss Nau" and 'Bigg Boss' house.

EFT Report, New Delhi: Legendary Indian singer Mohammed Rafi's biography has been released by publishing house Om Books International. Titled 'Mohammed Rafi: Golden Voice of the Silver Screen', penned by author Sujata Dev, that includes enriching anecdotes about the singer's life. The book presents Rafi's musical journey and what made him an utter delight to work with for every music director.

Author Sujata Dev had to face many challenges as she went about researching the book. "It was the toughest part of the research as those days had no computers and records were hard to find. Many stories and figures came to me from different sources but to authenticate them was not easy," said Sujata, who has been an avid fan of the legendary singer since her childhood.
In her book, Sujata mentions that Mohammed Rafi, was a music director's delight. She stated that Rafi sang for directors like Naushad, OP Nayyar and Madan Mohan, amongst many others, who were perfectionist and never failed to satisfy them.

The author adds that tracking his footsteps were extremely difficult as most of his relatives and associates had passed away. "But then I met Pyarelal ji, the renowned music director who had closely worked with Rafi sahab and when I told him about this biography and the challenges I was facing he said - you are the blessed one. You have a great task ahead of you," stated Sujata.
This statement instilled a lot of confidence in Sujata's heart and she knew she had a tough task ahead of her but it came with the blessings of Rafi Sahab himself and the good wishes of all his admirers.

The author said she was lucky enough to trace the details of Siddique Chacha, Rafi Sahab's younger brother, who is hale and hearty even today, and lives in Lahore. She met over a hundred people from the industry before she could complete this book. The DVD accompanying the book has many of these interviews.

Through the book, the author plans to popularize Indian music amongst the younger generation.

AR Rahman on blasphemy controversy: No intention to offend anyone

EFT Report, Mumbai: Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman said on Monday that his "decision" to compose the music for the movie "Muhammad: The Messenger of God", "was in good faith” with no intentions to offend any religious group.

Reacting to fatwa being issued against him over the film the musician refrained from sharing his “spiritual experiences” of working on the film as it's something “personal” to him.

“This letter is for all those people, who have been aware of the recent events concerning me. I'm not a scholar of Islam. I follow the middle path and am part of traditionalist and part rationalist.

“I live in the western and eastern worlds and try to love all people for what they are, without judging them. I didn’t direct or produce the movie 'Muhammad (PBUH), Messenger Of God.'. I just did the music.

“My spiritual experiences of working on the film are very personal and I would prefer not to share these,” Rahman shared through a letter posted on his official Facebook account.

According to reports, a fatwa was issued against Rahman and well-known Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi for their involvement on the movie on the life Prophet Muhammed. A Mumbai-based Raza Academy issued a diktat asking Muslims to reject the film.

As per a news report, the group's general secretary Mohammed Saeed Noori said: “We are against the title. People may use it in a bad manner if they don’t like the film, which will mean an insult to the Prophet.”

The musician, who is known as the 'Mozart of Madras', also noted that his decision to make music for the film was in good faith.

“My decision to compose the music for this film was made in good faith with no intentions of causing offence,” he shared.

Rahman, who has hit the right notes with each of his compositions with examples like “O rey chhori” and “Tum tak”, went on to add that the conflict should be solved with grace and dignity, rather than resorting to violent methods.

“We are indeed fortunate and blessed to live in a country like India where religious freedom is practiced and where the aim of all communities is to live in peace and harmony sans confusion and violence.

“Let us set a precedent in clearing conflict with grace and dignity and not trigger violence in words or actions,” he added.

It was also speculated that an event, which was schedule to be held in Delhi on Sunday, was cancelled due to the fatwa fallout.
