Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez Dies at 58 From Cancer

EFT Report, Venezuela: Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez died at a military hospital in Caracas, where the 58-year-old was being treated for complications arising from his long struggle with cancer on March 5.

Chavez, who rose to power from democratic elections in 1998 and always described his policies as anti-imperialist, will be best known for curbing US influence in South America and his well documented friendship with Cuban communist leader Fidel Castro. Hugo Chavez won his country's 2012 presidential election for a fourth time and was set for another six-year presidential term.
