EFT Report, Manchester: Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo came back to haunt his old club as his sliding neat-finishing in the 69th minute of the match was enough for Los Blancos’ to eliminated Manchester United from the Champions League Round of 16, Madrid defeated Manchester United, who ended the match with 10-man, 2-1 (aggregate 3-2) in a controversial return tie played-out at Old Trafford on March 6.

Ronaldo After Scoring in the Match
The highly anticipated match, where all the 3 goals were scored by Madrid players, turned on its head after United’s winger Nani got a direct red-card for a high-boot challenge on Madrid defender Arbeloa (which I found was very very harsh), Sir Alex brought his ‘A’ game for this match and the Reds were cruising thanks to an own goal from Sergio Ramos in the 48th minute. After the sending-off of Nani, Madrid took control of the match, Luka Modric let-off a screamer in the 66th minute to level the match 1-1. The match is best summed up by Mourinho’s comment after the game “The best team lost”.

In another Champions League Round of 16 match played, Borussia Dortmund beat Shakhtar Donetsk 3-0 (aggregate 5-2) at the Signal-Iduna-Park, Dortmund to advance into quarter-finals. Felipe Santana, Mario Gotze and Blaszczykowski all scored for the German champions.
