Iran Govt to Sue Makers of Oscar Winning Flick ‘Argo’

EFT Report, Tehran: Iranian government are planning to sue makers of the Oscar winning film ‘Argo’ for depicting Iranians as 'too violent’ and ‘unrealistic portrayal’ of the country. In the movie, actor Ben Affleck stars as an undercover intelligence agent who rescues 6 US diplomats from Iran after Islamic radicals stormed the US embassy in Tehran in 1979.

The film is directed by Ben Affleck and produced by Hollywood royalties like Ben Affleck, George Clooney and Grant Heslov. ‘Argo’ received widespread acclaim with 7 nominations in the 85th Academy Awards and winning 3, Best Film Editing, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Picture. ‘Argo’ has grossed over $218,328,25 worldwide at last count.

According to sources, Iranian officials are consulting celebrated French lawyer Isabelle Coutant-Peyre to sue the Oscar-winning movie's filmmakers.
