Nadal Wins 2013 BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells; Beat Del Potro 4-6 6-3 6-4

EFT Report, California: Rafael Nadal’s remarkable comeback continues as the 26-year-old Spaniard defeated Argentine Juan Martin Del Potro 4-6 6-3 6-4 in the final on March 17 to lift the 2013 BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells and pocket a kool winner’s cheque of $1 million. This is Nadal’s third consecutive title since returning in February from a 7-month lay-off putting all doubts about his fragile knee to REST.

En-route to this sweet victory, Nadal defeated his arch-rival Roger Federer and World No 6 Tomas Berdych while the towering Del Potro beat Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray in consecutive matches on his way to the final. This was Nadal’s 600th career match and will now move to No. 4 in the ATP rankings to be released today (March 18).

In the Ladies final, Maria Sharapova defeated Caroline Wozniacki 6-2, 6-2 to win her first title of the year.
