EFT Report, London: Former England international and Stoke City striker Michael Owen has announced that he will retire from professional football at the end of the season. The 33-year-old have played for prominent football clubs like Liverpool, Real Madrid, Newcastle and Manchester United and made 89 appearances for Three Lions scoring 40 goals.

It is with an immense amount of pride that I am announcing my intention to retire from professional football at the end of this season. I have been very fortunate that my career has taken me on a journey that I could only have dreamt of, Owen said in a statement.
Owen has scored 220 goals in his club career, winning the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup (3 times) and UEFA Cup.
