EFT Bureau, New Delhi: The Krishi Vigyan Mela 2013 (Agriculture Science Fair 2013) is scheduled to take place at Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) in New Delhi from March 6–8, 2013.

Initiated in the year 1972, the fair continues to be a highly important annual event of the Pusa for creating awareness about the latest agricultural technological developments and for receiving feedback from the agricultural community, which help in designing the Institute’s future research strategy. This fair is organized with a specific theme on a priority area of agricultural research and technology transfer.

Theme for the Year 2013: “Agricultural Technologies for Farmers' Prosperity”

Various improved crop varieties, supporting management practices and other related technologies have been developed by the IARI over the years for meeting the food, feed and nutritional demand of teeming population of the country. These technologies are in the major areas of production, protection and post-harvest handling of cereals, pulses, oilseeds, vegetables, fruits, flowers, etc. Protected cultivation system of vegetables and flowers, low cost storage of fruits and vegetables, resource management through use of Pusa Hydrogel, drip irrigation, zero tillage system, Integrated Pest Management, vermicomposting, raised bed planting system, etc. are the other innovative technologies developed by the Institute hold potential for sustainable household income augmentation. Therefore, the theme of annual Krishi Vigyan Mela-2013 has been aptly kept as “Agricultural Technologies for Farmers' Prosperity.”
