EFT Bureau, New Delhi: The President, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee will open the annual “Udyanotsav” of the Mughal Gardens of Rashtrapati Bhavan on February 15, 2013 at 10.45 am. The gardens will be open to public from 12.30 pm of the same day till 4 pm.
Thereafter, the gardens will remain open for general public from February 16 to March 17, 2013 (except on Mondays which are maintenance days) between 10 am to 4 pm.
The entry and exit into the Gardens for the general public will be from Gate No. 35 of the President’s Estate, which is located at the extreme end of the Church Road, 300 meters West of Cathedral Church and close to where North Avenue meets Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Visitors are requested not to bring any water bottles, briefcases, handbags/ladies purses, cameras, radios/transistors, cell phones, umbrellas, eatables, etc. Such articles, if any, will not be allowed to be carried into the Mughal Gardens and will have to be deposited at the entry point at the owner’s risk.
There will be special days when Mughal Gardens is open exclusively for farmers i.e. March 18, for differently-abled persons and visually challenged persons, i.e. March 19 and for defense and para-military personnel, i.e. March 20, 2013.
On March 19, differently-abled persons may visit Mughal Gardens from 1000 hrs to 1300 hrs. They will be allowed entry through the Reception of Rashtrapati Bhavan. The Herbal Garden (Tactile Garden) will be open for visually challenged people on March 19 from 1400 hrs to 1630 hrs. Their entry will be from Gate No. 12, situated on Church Road (opposite to the North Avenue).
This year, the main attraction in Mughal Gardens is dahlias in different colors which number more than 2500. A floral wall of Dahlias more than 8 ft. in height can be seen encircling the Circular Garden. Different types of floral carpets, the designs of which are revised almost weekly can be seen during the entire period when Mughal Gardens is open for the public. Further, China Oranges at Mughal Gardens can be seen in great proliferation for the first time in many years. The visual appeal of the Mughal Gardens has been remarkably enhanced this year by the combination of yellow and white colors, which dominates the color scheme of the flowers.
