EFT Report, Mumbai: From Michael Jackson, Kurt Kobain, Madonna and Jon Bon Jovi to Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Eminem & U2, the biggest names in music have been a part of the hugely popular MTV Video Music Awards. Often referred to as the ‘Oscars of the youth’, the VMA’s were created to recognize the best in video music. The MTV VMA’s in its 18 year history has had over 300 winners, has been home to countless incredible live performances and has consistently set the stage for some of the most controversial moments in music history. Dubbed as the coolest music awards show in the world, the MTV VMAs now comes to India.
Micromax MTV Video Music Awards India (VMAI) will recognize the music that is most loved by young India. The genres of music that will be considered for the awards are Film both Hindi and Regional, and Independent music. The awards will also recognize the international artist who has had the biggest impact in India as well as the artist who is setting the digital world on fire with his /her music. Since the VMAs is as much about the video as the music, awards which will be given out to Best Video Director, Best Video Editor and Best Sound Designer.
MicromaxMTV VMAI is 3 things…UNCONVENTIONAL, IRREVERENT AND GLOBAL.Made by the young, for the young and with the young, the awards will the decided purely by the audience basis online voting. Any artist who has released music between Jan and Dec 2012 is eligible to enter the awards.
The announcement to send in entries has started on TV and the web and artistes can send in multiple entries until 13th February 2013. So, here is MTV’s shout out to all the artistes, singers, artist managers, choreographer, video director, producers, music labels to log ontohttp://mtv.in.com/vmai/ select your category and simply submit your entry.

There are 17 categories in which an artiste / artiste manager / label can register themselves and this list encompasses different genres of music and talent in the music industry.
Excited about bringing the awards to India, Mr. Aditya Swamy, EVP and Business Head – MTV India commented, “Bringing the VMAs to India gives us an opportunity to recognize artists who have rocked young India and do it in a unique MTV way that is full of irreverence.
