Director Don Goutham said, “Since all my films are women oriented subjects which are connected with life even this film is based on the subject of atrocities committed on girls/women such as the heinous crime of rape or child abuse.” He also said, “Today we are already 1 decade into the 21st century but our actions belie us and are not keeping pace with the developments around and we let our carnal desires to take shape into action under various garbs such as maybe under the influence of alcohol.”
Don said, “Every girl is a daughter and everywoman is a mother but if she is found alone and in the form of a stranger everybody wants to objectify and use her as an object of pleasure.”
“The Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi had once said when the moment comes when a woman/girl can walk alone anywhere in the middle of the night without the fear of any harm that day we would achieve true freedom. Today we witness that a girl who is not even alone and at 9.30 pm within the bustling metropolis is abducted and gang-raped. Is this the freedom, he was looking for? Hence the film Aaj Ki Freedom,” he also added.
