DIFF Film Screenings at blueFrog, Delhi From April 28

Report by Santanu Ganguly: White Crane Arts & Media Trust, in association with blueFrog, will host special film screenings from the first ever Dharamshala International Film Festival (DIFF) held in November, 2012. Representing the best of independent cinema from across the globe, the screenings will be held on the last Sunday of every month from April to September at blueFrog, the live music performance destination of New Delhi.

The DIFF Film Screenings will open with Pina, the Oscar nominated and critically acclaimed 2011 German documentary on revolutionary contemporary dance choreographer Pina Bausch, on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at 7:00 pm at blueFrog, New Delhi.

Oscar Nominated 'Pina'
Directed by renowned German filmmaker Wim Wenders, Pina is a sensual and visually stimulating feature length documentary presenting extracts from some of Pina Bausch's most noted dance pieces. The extracts, performed by the ensemble of the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, are accompanied with interviews and further choreographies. Acclaimed as “an immersive, gorgeously shot tribute to the people who express life through movement,” the film was nominated in the Best Documentary Feature category at the 84th Academy Awards in 2012.

The globally renowned and culturally vibrant town of Dharamshala hosted the inaugural Dharamshala International Film Festival from November 1-4, 2012. Conceptualized by internationally acclaimed filmmakers Ritu Sarin and Tenzing Sonam and presented through their non-profit organization, White Crane Arts & Media Trust, the festival showcased 26 contemporary features, documentaries and shorts, curated from among the best of international independent cinema.

Over a dozen filmmakers from across India and the world attended—including Hansal Mehta, Asif Kapadia, Guy Davidi, Umesh Kulkarni and Jennifer Fox—to introduce their films and participate in question and answer sessions, masterclasses and panel discussions. Drawing over 5,000 film lovers from across India, DIFF presented internationally acclaimed films including Five Broken Cameras, Pina, Shahid, Deeol, Senna, Miss Lovely,Hara Kiri, 1/2 Revolution and Gattu. India premieres at the festival included Oscar-nominated Five Broken Cameras, China Heavyweight, When Hari Got Married and Marina Abramović The Artist is Present.

blueFROG is a revolutionary integrated music project in India. It is the country’s premiere live music performance club, music consultancy service, and an independent artist promotion, licensing and distribution agency. Conceived of by music lovers, blueFROG, Mumbai and Delhi are THE platforms for live music.
