EFT Report, New Delhi: What is the role of an elder brother in one’s life? Should he been seen as a bully or friend and guide? Can the advantage of more number of years alone justify his claim for respect? In this play the elder brother, a student of class 9th, studying in a boarding school away from home is joined by his brother, many years and class younger to him. The elder brother having lofty aspirations for his young sibling strictly monitors him. The younger brother peevishly obeys the command of his younger brother, mostly out of fear. While the elder brother has failed consecutively for two years in the same class, the younger brother has performed really well; so well that he foresees sharing of his brothers’ class soon, and as such thinks that he has deposed his elder brother of the authority and status to admonish him.
However, after a touching recount, the enormity of the sincerity and sacrifice of the elder brother dawns upon the younger brother who recalls it with great sense of realization as the drama unfolds in a package of witty and hilarious but extremely touching and riveting theatre adaptation of one of Munshi Premchand’s famous short story Bade Bhai Sahab.
