EFT Report, Kolkata: His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, founder of The Art of Living Foundation, will visit Kolkata on March 5, 2013, for the initiation of the Kolkata chapter of the country-wide movement, Volunteer for a Better India (VBI).

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, inspires millions of people across the world. He plays many roles for many people—as a humanitarian ambassador, spiritual leader or a meditation teacher, as well as a peace advocate. For three decades, Sri Sri has been engaged in promoting human values, fostering interfaith harmony, building communal unity, encouraging social responsibility and spearheading humanitarian causes.

Volunteer for a Better India is a service initiative of the Art of Living Foundation, a non-profit organization that carries on His Holiness Sri Sri Ravishankar’s mission to create a stress-free, violence-free planet through transformational personal development programs and global service projects in more than 150 countries around the world.

Sri Sri initiated Volunteer for a Better India (VBI) on February 3, 2013 from Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi. This movement appeals to each and every one of us to dedicate just 1 hour on daily basis to Volunteer for a Better India. The VBI is a campaign against many ills which afflict our society, including women’s safety, environment and corruption. The movement which is backed by many NGOs, including UN agencies and which stands on principles of humanity, equanimity, compassion, commitment, expressions, marches ahead with a vision of a better India. VBI is a movement which can make the dreams - yours and mine, turn into a reality.

The Art of Living Foundation is reaching out to every citizen of India—both young and old, to come and unite for this noble cause. The VBI is a Citizen’s Action Plan, for making a difference to our nation.
