EFT Report, Hyderabad: At least 11 people were killed and 50
injured in two near simultaneous blasts in Hyderabad and the death toll could
go up, Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde said. Asked whether it was a terror
attack, the minister said "it was too early to say anything and only an
investigation will reveal it."
Two bombs placed on bicycles exploded in a
busy commercial hub of Hyderabad, close to a crowded bus stand at Dilsukhnagar.
The blasts took place during the peak hour outside a roadside eatery near
Konark cinema theatre in the locality resulting in a stampede-like situation
with people trying to run for safety.
All major Indian cities were placed on high alert.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh called it a "dastardly attack."
"I appeal to the public to remain calm and maintain peace," he said in a Twitter message.

PM sanctions Rs 2 lakh each to next of kin of those killed in Hyderabad blasts and Rs 50,000 each to those seriously injured.
