EFT Report, Barcelona: As expected, four-time FIFA World Player of the Year winner Argentine footballing wizard Lionel Messi has signed his 2-year contract extension with FC Barcelona on Feb 7, 2013. The new deal will see the 25-year-old stay at Nou Camp until June 30, 2018.
FC Barcelona had already announced in December 2012 that the Argentina international, who has scored 45 goals so far in 34 appearances this season, will be signing a new deal.
Apart from individual accolades, Messi has helped the Catalan giant win 5 Primera Division titles, 3 Champions Leagues, 2 Copa del Rey, 2 FIFA Club World Cups since making debut in 2004 against Espanyol at a tender age of 17.
‘I'm very happy at Barcelona - I've always said that. It's a fantastic day. I don't know how I'll be when I'm 31. I take it one day at a time and I want to continue playing football for Barca.' he said on www.fcbarcelona.com.
