Located on the private island of Nediyathuruthu in the Alleppey district of Kerala, Banyan Tree Kerala is an hour south of Kochi International Airport and a 10-minute boat ride from the resort’s private jetty in nearby Vaduthala. Each of the resort’s 59 villas features a private pool and expansive views of the surrounding waterways and canals. Mr. Sriram Kailasam is the Senior Assistant Vice President, and General Manager of Banyan Tree Phuket, the flagship property of Banyan Tree Group. Prior to this, he was the General Manager of Banyan Tree Bangkok before assuming his current position in March 2012. He is also in charge of opening India’s first Banyan Tree resort in the back waters of Kerala, Banyan Tree Kerala.
Mr Kailasam moved to Phuket to assume this position in March 2012, after spending seven years in Bangkok where he was the General Manager of Banyan Tree Bangkok. Prior to this, he served in various executive capacities at Banyan Tree including the corporate role of Assistant Vice President of Food & Beverage. He joined the Group in 2003 as a Chef at Banyan Tree Phuket.
Holder of a Post-graduate diploma from the Oberoi School of Management, Mr Kailasam began his career as a hotelier in India in 1990 with the Oberoi Group. He later moved to Australia where he worked for several International groups such as Starwood group as well as the Stamford Hotels Sydney. He also had a stint in Cambodia with Hotel Le Royal (a Raffles hotel). In his rich career in hospitality, he has also achieved extensive pre-opening experience and operations for projects in South America, North Africa, Middle East, China and South East Asia.
An Australian national, Mr Kailasam is married with two sons. Reading, golf and running are amongst his passions as well as running full marathons.
