EFT Bureau, Berlin: The 63rd Berlin International Film Festival will take place from February 7 to 17, 2013. Since mid-January, the poster for the Berlinale 2013 has already been displayed around the Potsdamer Platz and all over Berlin. The poster’s motif will also appear on many of the Festival’s publications.
Chinese director Wong Kar Wai will be the Jury President of the 63rd Berlin International Film Festival. The other members of the International Jury will be Susanne Bier, Andreas Dresen, Ellen Kuras, Shirin Neshat, Tim Robbins and Athina Rachel Tsangari.
The 27 films are qualified for the Best First Feature Award 2013. Debut feature films from the sections Competition, Panorama, Forum, Generation or Perspektive Deutsches Kino will compete for the award in 2013. The winners will be announced at the official award ceremony in the Berlinale Palast on February 16.
The Berlinale will pay tribute to French documentary filmmaker and producer Claude Lanzmann and his extraordinary oeuvre with the Honorary Golden Bear. The award ceremony will be commemorated with a screening of Sobibor, 14 October 1943, 16 heures.
Sale of the tickets will start from February 4, daily from 10 am to 8 pm. Starting Feb. 4, a limited allocation of tickets can be booked online.
