EFT Report, Geneva: Last season treble winner with Bayern Munich, Frenchman Franck Ribery will now compete with Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi (arguably the two best players in the planet) for the coveted UEFA best player in Europe title for last season (2012/13). The award will be presented on August 29 at the Champions League group-stage draw in Monaco.

UEFA had narrowed down the candidates to three from an initial 10-man list, selected by journalists from UEFA members. Lionel Messi took home the inaugural award while his Barcelona teammate Andres Iniesta won the award last year.
