Report by Santanu Ganguly: Observing a week-long celebration with Belly Dancing and Live Performances from International Artists. The Middle East came alive at Zerzura amidst week long celebrations dotted with Dance and Musical evenings with the Arabian theme and spirit. Named after the mythical land from the Sahara desert – Zerzura, kick-started the celebrations with a special Belly Dance evening with International Belly Dancers, to get the ball rolling. The guests for the evening included members of the Indo-French Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IFFCI) among others, joining in to dance to the Arabic rhythms and beats.
Ending the week long celebrations on a high note, Cross Continental duo, Gods Robots delivered a live Performance for a charged audience at Zerzura. Celebrating the launch of their Debut Album, Shri and Janaka performed foot tapping numbers from their new Album for the guests along with their famous number 'Burn it up'. Bringing the Folktronic feel to the ambience, they had guests grooving to their music.
Shagun Somani, owner of Zerzura, said, "Mid-Eastern in theme and flavour, the idea was to give something special to our audiences. This week has had belly dancing, music to celebrate world music day and an international darawish dancer to round things off."
" We chose Zerzura, as the venue for our first ever public performance with the launch of our new album as it signifies everything our music stands for. Janaka and i have worked really hard to create compositions that talk about our journey through music and finding ourselves, just like Zerzura is like a journey to finding a mythical land of Luxury. It was a perfect match", said, Vocalist of Gods Robots.
Based on the adventures of finding the impossible land of ‘Zerzura’ in the Sahara region, Zerzura opens its doors to welcome the spirit of adventure and the quest for something new with its Mid-Eastern, Moroccan outing that comes intact with distressed-finished furniture, traditional middle-eastern décor, alongwith wine and food fit for a King.
Situated in South Delhi’s Qutab Hotel, the lounge is the second project by restaurateur Shagun Somani, who raked in tremendous success with Hinglish, presently running in West Delhi’s Pacific Mall. The menu at Zerzura is honest, uncluttered and authentic. From the Iranian Kebab House to the Mezze Bar in Lebanon and even Tagines from Morocco, painstaking research and groundwork has gone into creating Zerzura at Qutub.
