EFT Report, Gurgaon: The rising instance of Breast Cancer in the young women has led Indian Cancer Society & DLF Ltd to declare 2013 as the year of Breast Cancer Awareness whereas various initiatives are being taken to lay before the public the facts about this disease so that the knowledge thus imparted may make women respect and be conscious of their own bodies so that a disease like cancer is caught in the very first stages is to be treated and give a new lease towards life. The Indian Cancer Society & DLF Ltd are hosting ‘Festival of Hope – The Pink Blue Ribbon Fest’, showcasing fashions from select designers on models who are all breast cancer reconstruction patients on Friday, May 10, 2013 at DLF Club 5, Gurgaon at 7 pm onwards. ‘Men Against Breast Cancer’ – applaud the men who have stood tall and strong for the women they love when breast cancer strikes a female loved one.
The event is being organized with the aim of taking forward the objective of creating awareness for all types of Cancer via various fashion events. A venture dedicated to Promoting awareness by the means of fashion, culture and a cause. Celebrating those who have fought challenged and survived it through fashion, music and paintings which are said to be the best connecting mediums for masses.
The participating designers are Pam Mehta, Gopa Kumar, Sagrika Mittal Goyal, Deepa Arora, Pawan Sachdeva, Bharat Reshma Grover, Amit Talwar Trekaaya, Anuradha Prasad Dhawan, Smit Raj Gayanani, Ramonn Lamba. Singer Anamika will enthrall the audience with the beats of her song Boom Boom at The festival of Hope 2013-A tribute to Nazia Hassan who lost her life to cancer. Renowned Bollywood artist Swaroop Sampat will be gracing the occasion with her presence, an acclaimed actress who won tittle of Miss India at the age of 18 in and was also one of the top ten finalists at Miss Universe and later created her own space in Bollywood.
Not every woman is a candidate for reconstruction or is even interested in it, but far too few get the information they deserve today. Our goal is to significantly increase the dismal number of breast cancer patients who are ever even offered a consultation about reconstruction after the physical and emotional stress of their cancer treatment.
