Report by Santanu Ganguly, New Delhi: DLF Foundation, the philanthropic arm of DLF Limited has undertaken many initiatives in rural areas to bring up the economic conditions villages. Taking another righteous step, DLF Foundation celebrated International Women’s Day in the village of Kankrola aiming at the empowerment of women. DLF believes that by empowering woman one is empowering the entire family.
With gender-based biasness being so persistent in the society, DLF Foundation has taken a concrete step to sensitize people on the importance of gender equality. There was a session where in the village residents were given meaningful insights to the need for gender equality and threw light on the notion that women are also entitled to live with dignity and freedom from fear and at par with their counterparts. They were also briefed on the importance of the media and how information could transform their lives.
The health camp is an indispensable part of DLF Foundation’s initiatives which is organized at regular intervals in rural and urban villages as part of their commitment towards a healthy India. Alongside the awareness drive, a multi-specialty health camp was also set up which hailed the presence of multi-disciplinary doctors. Apart from the general health check-up, services of pediatrician, gynecologist, dentist and eye-care specialists were also provided to care seekers from the community.
Preventive techniques were especially encouraged through these camps. The health camp helped women understand the health risks that they are prone to and guided them to inculcate healthy habits to take care of their health by maintaining certain hygiene standards in and around their surroundings.
