EFT Report, Bangalore: Today’s society is becoming more and more dependent on open networks such as the Internet, where commercial activities, business transactions and government services are concentrated. This has led to the intensification of cyber threats and numerous information security issues which are continually refined by cyber criminals in new and sophisticated ways. The inability to provide trusted security services in contemporary computer network technologies has a tremendous socio-economic impact on global enterprises as well as individuals.
Moreover, frequently occurring cyber frauds and identity thefts impose the necessity to conduct an investigation spanning multiple international borders. Recognizing this dire need, Department of Information Science and Engineering, P E S I T in association with NASSCOM-Data Security Council of India is organizing a TEQIP Phase- II Funded workshop on “Cyber Forensics and Information Security" at PESIT campus. The distinct goals of this workshop are to characterize the information & cyber security problem domains, identify good practices to mitigate cyber threats and to determine potential research directions.
