Esmeralda-Cesare Pugni Ballet by NCPA-Pathé Live (Paris)

EFT Report, Mumbai: The NCPA is proud to associate with Pathé Live (Paris) to bring to Mumbai the opportunity for audiences to experience international ballet productions, while also enjoying a look behind the scenes.

After successful alliances with NT Live and Met Live, now building on its presentation of high-quality international screenings, the NCPA and Pathé Live bring world-class classical ballet from the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia to the NCPA screen.

Esmeralda, a ballet originally choreographed by Marius Petipa with music by Cesare Pugni, was inspired by the novel Notre Dame de Pari by Victor Hugo. Esmeralda is not often presented in its full-length throughout the world. First presented by the Ballet of her Majesty’s Theatre in London in 1844, it was then adapted and modified many times over the years, and particularly by Marius Petipa in 1886. Today’s choreographic version was specifically created for the Bolshoi by Yuri Burklava and Vasily Medvedev in 2009.
