Champions League: Bayern Destroy Barca 4-0 at Allianz-Arena

EFT Report, Allianz-Arena: No one in this whole wide World could ever see this coming, a thrashing cum a lesson in football to the proclaimed ‘Best Football Club in the World’ well that’s what happened ….....would be crowned Spanish champions FC Barcelona were outplayed, outthought, outwitted, blown-away, dismantle (put in any adjectives) by the newly crowned Budesliga champions FC Bayern Munich 4-0 in their first leg of Champions League semi-final played at Allianz Arena on April 24, 2013. With this win the Bavarians have literally booked a spot in the final to be played at Wembley.

Muller After His Brace

Jupp Heynckes’s men did everything right to the dot, they knew when to pressed, when to fall back and never in the whole match allowed the half-fit Messi (where was he during the match???) to thrive or get into any kind of grove. Using their height (and strength) advantage the Germans begin the match well, Thomas Muller opened the scoring with a close-range header in the 25th minute. For all their ball possession Barcelona’s first shot on target came in the 70th minute that too from defender Bartra. Mario Gomez made it 2-0 four minute into the second half with a simple tap-in after being set up by Thomas Muller (for me the man-of-the-match), again from a air-ball. Then came the killer blow, a Arjen Robben's goal in 73rd minute from a counter-attack, Muller appeared to have foul Jordi Alba who was about to block Robben's shot on goal but such was the dominance of the home team that feelings of injustice were increasingly irrelevant. Then Thomas Muller completed his brace with a simple tap-in (again from a counter attack) with eight minutes remaining to round off the biggest-ever margin of victory in a Champions League semi-final. To compound FC Barcelona’s misery defender Jordi Alba was yellow carded, he will miss the return leg, for throwing the ball at Robben face. For all the statistic freaks, Barcelona had 63 per cent of ball possession while Bayern had 37 per cent but the Bavarians slaughtered the Catalans’ like a sheep in the night.

A Dejected Barcelona Side at Allianz Arena

The return-leg will be played at Camp-Nou in a week time but can the Catalans’ giants overturn this 4-0 deficit, for that to happen they need eleven or more fully-fit Lionel Messi in the pitch. Well only time will tell…....for now let’s all give glory, accolades and appreciates a fully oiled, mature FC Bayern Munich side.
