Intl Friendlies: Lampard’s Stunner in England 2-1 Win Over Brazil

EFT Report, London: Frank Lampard scored his 27th goal in Three Lions color as England defeated Brazil 2-1 in an international friendly match played at Wembley Stadium, London on Feb 7, 2013. Rooney scored the other goal for England while Fred found the net for the 5-time World Cup winner. This was England first win over the South American in 23 years.

Former FIFA player of the year Ronaldinho, playing in his 100th match for Brazil, had an off-day missing from the spot. Apart from Ronaldinho, England’s Ashley Cole also played his 100th game for the Three Lions. As expected, the South American started the match in a vibrant mood but England drew first blood after Theo Walcott’s shot was saved by Cesar but ricocheted to Rooney, who calmly put the ball inside the unguarded net in the 26th minute much to the delight of over 87,000 Wembley fans. Brazil equalized in the 48th minute through substitute Fred. Then as usual, a classic Frank Lampard goal from just outside the box in the 60th minute to sealed the match 2-1 in favor of the Three Lions.

England have lots to look forward to, the partnership of Jack Wilshere and Steven Gerrard in the midfield area is a treat to the eye while Ronaldinho looked like his former self. Anyone who saw the match will say Frank Lampard’s Chelsea and England career is definitely ‘NOT YET OVER’.
