EFT Report, Lahore: Oscar winning Indian poet and lyricist Gulzar, who arrived in Pakistan to participate in the Karachi Literary Festival 2013, abruptly cut short his visit and
returned to India, with film director Vishal Bhardwaj, who accompanied him,
saying there were no political or security reasons behind the decision.
Gulzar, who traveled to Lahore on Feb. 12, was also to attend the recording of a 'qawwali' for an Indian film titled "Dehd Ishqiya." The song is to be sung by Meher Ali and Sher Ali.
Karachi Literary Festival 2013 is scheduled to take place at Beach Luxury Hotel from Feb. 15–17, 2013. Twelve countries—Nepal, India, Palestine, France, Italy, Germany, Sweden, Russia, Canada, US, UK and Pakistan—and nine languages will be represented during the literary festival. The languages in which the authors write include Urdu, Sindhi, Punjabi, Russian, French, English, Italian, Swedish and German.
Karachi Literary Festival 2013 will feature creative writing workshops, debates, discussions, lectures, mushairah, a book fair, book launches, readings, signings, and more.
