EFT Report, London: Liverpool FC and England captain Steven Gerrard was named England player of the year at the FA England awards ceremony on Feb 3, 2013. This is the second time Gerrard has won the coveted award, he previously won the award in 2007.
The 32-year-old, who scored a stunning goal in Liverpool's 2-2 draw against Manchester City at Etihad on the weekend, finished ahead of Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck and Chelsea defender Ashley Cole in a poll conducted by the FA. Over 180,000 votes were cast on TheFA.com website.
Gerrard now joins Chelsea’s Frank Lampard and Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney in lifting the award twice.
