Attero’s E-Week was organized at The Shri Ram School with the aim of creating awareness and educating students about electronic waste. The event unfolded in three parts beginning on November 30, 2012, with the E-Week Workshop, which was followed by a Poster Making Contest and finally ending with the E-Waste Collection Drive. All three events went on successfully and witnessed a massive turnout from students.

The Workshop helped kids understand more about the threats of e-waste and what they could do to protect their environment. Students at the workshop actively participated with a lot of enthusiasm and had come prepared with a lot of queries around e-waste and its implications.

The Poster Making Competition was a major hit with kids, as they tapped into their imagination to come up with innovative themes and designs for posters on e-waste awareness. In fact, the sheer creativity of the posters made it quite hard for the judges to select the winners.

The E-Waste Collection Drive at the Attero E-Week was another grand success, with students collecting almost a ton of e-waste. The collected e-waste included printers, monitors, microwave ovens and even dishwashers among others. Attero will be taking the e-waste from the collection drive and recycle it in an eco-friendly manner, using state-of-the-art recycling technology.

Finally, a major reason for the success of Attero’s E-Week was the interest shown by The Shri Ram School on creating awareness and educating their students about e-waste, which has been plaguing our society. While we cannot live without technology today, we can take a more responsible step towards the environment and e-waste disposal, and it’s good to see that The Shri Ram School is taking active steps in this regard. The school has also taken an initiative to install e-waste collection bins within the school campus to help people easily dispose off their e-waste in an eco-friendly manner. Attero will be collecting the e-waste from these bins regularly and process them at the recycling plant.

Attero Recycling is also keen on working with other schools and institutions and organizing more such events to create awareness about e-waste and eco-friendly e-waste disposal. Attero believes that working together could make a lot of difference and would help in stepping into a greener tomorrow, free from the hazards of e-waste.

Attero (meaning “waste” in Latin) Recycling is the only environmentally conscious end-to-end e-waste management solution provider in India and is one of the few such recyclers globally. Attero is also the only integrated e-waste recycler in India to be awarded the Recycling Registration for Environmentally Sound Recycling of Hazardous Waste by the Central Pollution Control Board, Ministry of Forest & Environment.

Incorporated in 2008, Attero Recycling was successful in attracting a Series A funding of $6.3 million from venture capital firms IndoUS Venture Partners and Draper Fisher Jurvetson during its inception. It has a highly automated facility for integrated e-waste recycling at Roorkee, Uttrakhand. The company has a first-of-its kind indigenous metallurgical process developed in its R&D division and a close technical collaboration with a leading US company for mechanical separation.
