Indian Bassist Clarence Gonsalves Passes Away at 27; Funeral on April 14

Clarence Gonsalves, renowned bass player of Delhi based alternative rock band “Them Clones” passed away on April 13, 2012 at the age of 27 due to brain hemorrhage.

A funeral mass will be held on April 14 at the Holy Spirit Church, Institutional area, Alaknanda in Delhi at 2.30 pm.

His band issued the following statement:

After battling it out for over half a decade, Clarence Gonsalves, succumbed to ITP at age 27 at 06:15 am, Friday, April 13, 2012 at Batra Hospital, New Delhi. Clarence went into coma early on April 12 and was put on life support. In spite of numerous medical efforts and all your prayers and blessings, he was unable to pull through this time.

Clarence took over bass guitar duties in Them Clones in April 2008 and was instrumental in several significant milestones of our collective history, including our debut album (Love.Hate.Heroes), all our music videos till date and several awards that we received during the period. In spite of his repeated health lapses in the period, Clarence had played hundreds of shows with us, gathering fans all across for his incredible bass playing, unique style, monstrous sound, tremendous stage presence, soulful songwriting and, most importantly, his humility and kind nature.

This youngest proficient bass player will always live in the heart of its aficionados.
