Report by Santanu Ganguly: Tibet House and Vinay Behl presents the screening of Doordarshan’s ‘The Monasteries of Rinchen Zangpo’, from the series which I have recently made titled ‘Spectacular India’.
This film has been made on High Definition Video and it takes us through the spectacular lands which lie beyond the high Himalayas. It is about the period of ‘The Second Great Coming of Buddhism’ in Tibet, Lahaul – Spiti, Kinnaur and Ladakh.
The film will be screened at Tibet House, 1 Institutional Area, Lodhi Road, New Delhi on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at 6:30 pm. All the monasteries and the temples were painted and sculpted by artists who were invited from Kashmir. These monasteries and their art laid the foundations of the later traditions of Buddhism in the trans-Himalayas. This is exquisite art, which I am sure you will enjoy seeing.
