‘Baghdad Wedding’ Play at Ranga Shankara
Baghdad Wedding
EFT Report, Bangalore: In Iraq, a wedding is not a wedding unless shots get fired. It`s like in England where a wedding is not a wedding unless someone pukes or tries to f**k one of the bridesmaids. That's just the way it goes. Winner of 3 Mahindra Excellence in Theatre Awards, including Best Play and Best Ensemble, Hassan Abdul Razzak's first play not only covers an enormous amount of territory, it also reminds us of the infinite human contradictions within any nation. From cosmopolitan London to the chaos of war-ravaged Baghdad, this is the tale of three friends, torn between two worlds, who grapple with their cultural, political and sexual identities. And of which one wedding that goes horribly wrong.
